This December I will be travelling to India to help with the establishment of renewable energy in India's Slum communities.
Auckland
Over 400 million people in India live without access to Electricity. They rely on burning Kerosene as their light source. Burning Kerosene emits damaging carbon dioxide emissions and inhaling these toxic fumes kills over 100,000 children each year.
Pollinate Energy seeks to combat this issue by introducing economically viable, sustainable energy alternatives to India's slum communities to replace their fossil fuel dependence. Reducing the Environmental, health and economic impact of burning fossils fuels.
They do this by recruiting locals from these communities upskilling them and providing them with the ability to establish their own micro business, providing avenues for both economic and environmental development in ares that need it the most.
Pollinates Flagship product is a Solar lamp, which is sold into the slum communities replacing Kerosene lamps. Which allows families in these communities to save about 10% of their weekly income (which is spent on buying Kerosene) and instead put that money towards other more constructive purposes like education and medicine.
I will be travelling to India to work with Pollinate energy in assisting with the establishment and running of the Micro-businesses in Calcutta India.
Your sponsorship will allow me to assist me in aiding the social, economic and environmental development of some of the most impoverished communities on the planet.
Funds raised will go towards
-Training and recruitment of local people to aid in the establishment of their own Micro businesses
-Trailing and testing of new products to promote development within India's slum communities
-Towards the running and admin of Pollinate's programs and initiatives
I will personally be funding my own flights, visas etc. but any donations over my target will go towards these costs.
I am involved because I have a passion for the environment.
I am taking part in this project as I want to be able to introduce sustainable alternatives to those that need them the most. India is a developing country and with development comes an increase in carbon dioxide emissions and environmental footprint.
The majority of the environmental issues we are facing today are a result of the Industrial Revolution and the development of the wealthier countries of the world.
I hope that by making sustainability a key point in the development of poorer countries we can combat some of the environmental issues we have faced as a result of development in the past.
