To help Krystal fulfill her goals, while creating happy memories with her daughter, family and friends during the time she has left with us.
Wellington
For nearly 4 years Krystal Sloan-Meyrick has been fighting a long, hard battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
She has a 4 year old little girl, Harper who has only ever known her mum to be unwell and Krystal's strength and determination to survive this and have a future with her wee girl has blown us all away.
On Friday the 26th Oct 2018, our hearts broke when we received the news that the cancer was back and now that all treatment options have been exhausted, it is terminal.
Krystal has so many things she would like to do while she is still physically able and we want to help her fulfill these goals, however big or small and create some happy memories along the way.
I'm Krystal's proud 'Other-mother' (step-mum) doing this on behalf of her big, beautiful family.
Funds raised will be for Krystal to spend on creating happy memories and ticking fun activities off her bucket list.
Any extra funds raised will go towards Harper's future.
Krystal’s Update 29 April 2019
Over the last few months since we received the news that Krystal’s cancer was now terminal, she has been struggling with her physical symptoms such as her sight deteriorating, various pains throughout her body and a large, rapidly growing lump in her breast. She can no longer drive due to the strong medication she is on to manage her pain. Emotionally she is dealing with the certainty of her prognosis and the thought of Harper, her wee 4 year old daughter growing up without a mother.
We are so grateful for all the wonderful donations through Givealittle. Krystal has been putting the funds raised to good use and these have gone towards activities with Harper, holidays and concerts, dinners (she's such a foodie) and lots more.
Since she was already undergoing treatment when she turned 21, in January, shortly after we got the bad news we held a big 24th birthday bash in which she was able to be the belle of the ball and have special moments she is going to miss out on like dancing with her Dads.
Krystal has been working hard writing cards and letters and buying presents for Harper which have been put aside for her for birthdays and Christmas’s to come as well as special milestones that she will miss like her wedding and becoming a woman etc. This process has been a huge comfort to Krystal as she feels that she will still be a little part of Harper’s life once she has passed on.
We would like to extend this page so Krystal can have some more special times with Harper, family and friends during the time she has left and also to enable her to continue putting things in place for Harper’s future.
