KUMU Project is a charity organisation that has been inspired by World Possible https://worldpossible.org/ an NGO based in the USA. We operate in Australasia and the Pacific Islands, like in Vanuatu, where two devices have been installed in Espiritu Santo, Luganville and Port Olry. Currently providing FREE Knowledge to around 600 children! There is a study for several more installations in Papua New Guinea.
New Zealand is our primary placement area as there are several rural schools without coverage, very limited internet access or the access to internet is expensive. Our goal and drive is to provide free knowledge to remote communities. We have recognised that there are rural communities in New Zealand that don’t have the same access to educational resources.
The device that we provide contains 10 years’ worth of educational resources for children between the ages of 5 to 15 years. The content on the device is inclusive of articles, videos, millions of pages, digital books that can also be downloaded and printed and easily accessed via computer networks or wireless devices. Teachers can also utilise the resource for lesson planning with updated content. The subjects on the device are diverse from Agriculture, English, History, Health Studies, Religious Studies, Geography, Maths, Agriculture, Environment and much more. The content is currently available in 3 languages and is all contained in a single memory card that is easily updated.
Installations accomplished so far:
1) Saint Michelle, Luganville, Vanuatu
2) Port Olry, Vanuatu
Study for future installations:
* Papua New Guinea
* New Zealand
