My life long dream of smiling is finally coming true. Follow me on my journey. The raw real emotional truth of living with hypoplasia
Canterbury
I'm Jacinta. I'm 27years old, from Christchurch New Zealand. I have a wonderful, supportive husband whom I've been with for 5 and a half years, we have a crazy, rambunctious one year old son named Riley. I'm a laid back, typical kiwi girl and these are the ins and outs of my story;
I have enamel hypoplasia which is a severe lack of enamel formation. In most cases enamel is low or thin, however, I have no enamel on all teeth resulting in a dark yellow/brown colouring.
Enamel hypoplasia is a rare developmental problem which leads to the characteristic appearance of the teeth to no fault of the person.
All dental care so far has been "number 8 wire" and hope it lasts, sadly none of it did as nearly all dental glues and fillings are made for enamel teeth so every potential step forward is unfortunately two steps back.
My life has been hard. I've suffered many horrible, painful years of failed dental work - still to this day I anxiously anticipate the circus show awaiting when I open my mouth, dentistry workers think my teeth are amazing and rare but I still feel like a clown.
I follow a page called "Simone's Journey To Health" and she has recently had some amazing dental work done by Dr Dee from Vogue Dental Studios in Melbourne, Australia. I decided to contact him and tell him my story. To my surprise, all my dreams came true and he has kindly donated all of his expertise and time towards giving me a smile I have dreamt of my whole life. With the help of my amazing dentist Natalie from Smile Concepts I'm looking at heading over to Melbourne in the early months of 2017 to begin my life changing experience.
I'm in desperate need of support physically, mentally and financially. All donations will go towards return flights, accommodation/living costs while in Australia, travel to and from dental appointments while in Australia, any payment upfront dental work in New Zealand for example dental x-rays or scans, financial aid - I am a stay at home mum, my husband works very hard long hours to support his family. While I am away my husband will be juggling everything. We have a lot of support all of whom work also, pretty much we are all winging it but we know it will work out. With any left over/continued donations I would love to one day help someone also learn to smile. On the emotional support side of it all I have NEVER left the south island of New Zealand, NEVER flown and/or been away from my husband, son or support and NEVER put my needs first. I need everyone behind me helping push me to my dreams. The sky's the limit but we all need a hand to hold to be brave.
Please come and join me on my journey to smile. It's sure guna be a wild ride.
This is my journey. My struggle to gain a smile. This is going to be a hard road but worth every step.
I did it.! 14 April 2017
I've been smoking for 14 years.. if wanted to quit for a few years and tried in 2015 but I fell short and only managed a few months. I'm very proud to say i now call myself a non smoker. I did it. Not only did I want to do this for my self and my son I also needed to do this for healing and all round health as we need my gums in the best condition possible.
Please continue to support me on my journey.
