There are very many children in Vanuatu in similar situations, doctors find it very difficult to know who to prioritise to send off shore.

I would like to introduce to you Jeremy Wilson, at 3 1/2 years old this Ni-Vanuatu boy was suffering from an intestinal blockage. In mid-January 2021 his life-threatening condition was brought to our attention. According to his mother, Jeremy hadn't defecated for 2 months and was in danger of his intestines rupturing. With the situation being critical, the Ratua Foundation immediately utilised its resources to save Jeremy’s life and ensure that he got priority treatment albeit very limited in Espiritu Santo Hospital Vanautu.
On January 27 2021 Jeremy underwent surgery and was temporarily relieved of his condition, with the view to reversing the operation next year ... his doctor says he needs this reversal operation off shore given the specialised care he requires. Jeremy ended up back in hospital soon after he went home as his stoma bag was not working well and he was and STILL is in a lot of pain. The stoma site has shrunk.
Sunila (Jeremy’s Solo Mother) has no income given Vanuatu has no tourists and had been evicted from her family home. Sunila used to work at Ratua Island Resort & Spa 4 years ago as one of our senior beauty therapists so holds a special place in our heart. We have provided Sunila with a fridge, fresh meat & food every week to help strengthen Jeremy's physical condition.
If you would like more information regarding Jeremy please contact me directly at: foundation@ratua.com
We are not medical specialists and would be extremely grateful for assistance or contacts to facilitate the help little Jeremy so desperately needs.
The Ratua Foundation's primary funder is the Ratua Island Resort & Spa in Vanuatu but has no means of supporting the Ratua Foundation at this time as we have been closed for 16 months with no guests due to Covid 19.
Thank you for taking the time to read his story ... Please share this if you can.
Kindest Regards
Leah & Brett Fasher

Disclaimer:
Our Ratua Foundation Bank accounts are all based in Vanuatu with the ANZ bank in Vatu currency.
Due to ' Give a little's ' restrictions on not being able to send donations to an overseas bank account with currency conversion complications we must use our personal account to receive these NZ funds in trust to be used for Jeremy either to be converted to Vatu (at our cost) or kept in NZD for his medical treatment and ongoing care in NZ.
The funds will be used for return air fares to Vanuatu for Jeremy & his mother Sunila, accommodation, specialist care, left over funds will be put in trust & used for Jeremy's on going health care and rehabilitation
Thank you 4 February 2022
We would like to thank everyone very much that donated funds to help Jeremy. Some of the funds collected for Jeremy will be used on his behalf in NZ to help cover the ongoing cost shipping donated stoma bags and his healthcare and living expenses in his home country Vanuatu while he awaits his reversal operation. Money left over will be put in trust for Jeremy for his ongoing healthcare and rehabilitation.
