Lisa has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, with 3 tumors in her oesophagus, cerebellum, and brain stem.
Canterbury
Lisa began feeling unwell in July 2020, was struggling to eat, keep food down, and had many coughing fits. After a lot of pushing for further testing, she was diagnosed on 26 November 2020 with gastro-oesophageal adenocarcinoma cancer. Following some ups and downs, Lisa was taken to hospital in early Dec by an Ambulance, unable to eat or drink.
While in hospital Lisa continued to suffer headaches and after more than a week she was no longer coping with them, so they did an urgent CT scan and found the cancer had metastasized to her brain with a tumour on her cerebellum. An MRI was ordered and they found another tumour close on her brain stem. Lisa underwent an operation to remove the tumour on her cerebellum, has undergone radiation for the remaining tumours, and soon she will begin chemotherapy.
In January the doctors broke the news to Lisa that her diagnosis is now terminal, with 6-12 months expectancy. This is going to be a very long journey for Lisa, but she is a fighter and will make the most of the precious time she has with her friends and family. She is blessed with the support of her partner Michael, and her supportive network of friends, and family. She is unable to work anymore, so the financial support will be hugely appreciated by Lisa and Michael. This will help her complete some of her bucket list items and dreams she has.
Lisa and I have been working together for over 4 years, and we love swapping our fitness journey stories. She is such a joy to be around!
