Please help little Jorgia in her fight to beat cancer.

Northland

Just two weeks after Jorgia celebrated her third birthday she was diagnosed with a large brain tumour.

On Friday the thirteenth she had her first of many MRI’s at Whangarei Hospital. From there, her and her mother were rushed to Starship hospital via ambulance. Just 4 days later she underwent a 5-hour operation to remove the mass.

Unfortunately, they were unable to remove it entirely due to delicate parts of the brain which it was attached to. Initial recovery from the brain surgery was very hard and traumatic for her and her family.

Jorgia now must go through 7 weeks of radiation in Auckland to eradicate the remaining cancer in her head.

Once the radiation is complete Jorgia will face the next battle of having an extremely low immune system, little energy and appetite.

All going well she will still need frequent MRI’s to check that it doesn’t grow back. This will be for the rest of her life.

Jorgia is the youngest daughter of Sam and Steve. Her sister Tylah-Jill, who is only 16 months older than her, is her best friend. She also has an adoring older brother Riley. The family has been separated a lot during these traumatic times and both parents have been unable to fulfil work commitments, which has put extra strain on the family.

If you can contribute in any way to help this wonderful family, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read about Jorgia’s fight.

Countdown  2 March 2020

Posted by: Sam Porter

She’s over half way now with 14 more treatments to go.

She has had some hair loss at the back where the radiation entry point is.

This is her countdown chart where every morning she places a Moana sticker before she goes under general anaesthetic.

Thanks again to everyone for their kind words and encouragement. We won’t find out until April how successful the radiation has been...

I hope to only update with positive news 💜
