We save horses and Lockie was our first. He is kind, gentle and loves being around people.
Canterbury
Recently we were gifted with the use of 4 paddocks, 2 stables, 2 yards and a dressage ring so we decided to take this opportunity to the next level. We have 2 horses and build them up with trust, love and kindness, plus food. With the goal being for them to get re-homed into caring and appropriate homes.
Lockie will always stay with us, he's 25yrs old and blind in one eye but still has plenty of vim an lust for life.
We would love to accept donations of feed, equipment, specialized help, advice, anything you are prepared to give would be appreciated.
We're doing this as we believe there is always an alternative to the early and unnecessary death of a horse. Just because it's in the too hard box doesn't mean the knackers.
We're doing the rescues, caring for the horses, feeding out and all things involved with their care.
We rescue unwanted, broken down or horses unnecessarily destined for the knackers.
We believe any animal is not a "throw away" object and when life gets difficult or it's just too much effort to manage, the best solution is not always the easiest.
We believe with a little trust, faith and effort you can change things for the better.
Our goal is to re-habilitate then re-home the horses that come into our care.
We accept donations of feed, medicines, labour, money, anything. We're also open for people to visit the horses when arranged.
Look at her condition 17 November 2015
Both Lockie and Mary Apple, her name now, are showing fabulous condition.
I've added a couple of photos of Mary Apple with weight on and a gleam in her eye.
Lockie has had his feet done and we'll be getting his teeth sorted in the new year.
We had to stable them both over Guy Fawkes as it was so loud and scary that they both were safer in the stables.
They're LOVING the sweet spring grass and having great days.
