Spread a little love, helping a young family navigate through life at this challenging time.

Auckland

Loretta is a young mum, who alongside her husband Mark, is raising two adorable pre-schoolers, Charlie and Annabelle.

In April 2018, Loretta was diagnosed with a severe brain tumour, and the rest of the year has been filled with extensive surgeries, medical treatments and continuous hospital and specialist visits. The next medical option available for Loretta is extremely expensive, and requires them to privately fund the treatment themselves. (Added 18.12.18, Despite the Doctors initial comments that this treatment was unlikely to be covered (which is when this page was set up), their insurance company did in fact grant approval just a few days ago. Loretta is currently looking at options around treatments only available offshore but we are all hoping and praying that this treatment is effective.)

As their friends and extended family we want to gather around this beautiful family, and shoulder some of the financial costs for them. It goes without saying that in these situations, pressure arrives on every front and in working to aleviate some of their additional costs, it is incredibly helpful and appreciated. Every financial gift counts no matter how big or small.

Mark and Loretta will be using funds raised for any area of financial need and it will also allow them to make decisions and pursue options regarding relocation, loss of income and other major aspects of life that are impacted during this upheaval.

Mark and Loretta wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed. The generosity is truely overwhelming at times and reading through the messages of support gives them immense encouragment.

Use of funds

The money will be used for medical treatment and allow them to make decisions and pursue options regarding relocation, loss of income and other major aspects of life that are impacted during this upheaval.

Update on Loretta Taylor  19 December 2018

Mark and Loretta have been overwhelmed and blown away with all the donors generosity, many of whom they do not know personally.

Loretta is about to start another round of Radiation and Chemo with another drug in the mix to help reduce the fluid and swelling in the Brain. She is in the fight of her life and every positive prayer, thought and message is so appreciated.

When this page was set up it was on the advice from the medical team that the new drug was unlikely to be covered and was not funded either. Just a few days ago, the Insurer has responded that they will cover this treatment which frees Mark and Loretta to use these funds raised in looking for alternative treatments and trials offshore. We have updated the page story with this information so everyone is aware.

They are currently relocating and looking at their options over the next few months.

Again, the generosity shown is incredibly humbling and a real blessing to the family.
