Auckland

Your Generosity Speaks Volumes! Thank you for supporting Loud Shirt Day: where we have fun, wear colour, and change the lives of New Zealand's deaf and hearing impaired children.

Loud Shirt Day is an annual event held every September, and is all about getting loud and raising funds to help deaf children learn to listen and speak.

On Loud Shirt Day, schools, businesses, community groups and individuals raise money by dressing up in a loud shirt, participating in a fun event and collecting as many donations as possible.

Among those who will benefit from this year's outrageous fashion crimes and generous donations, are our 2019 Campaign Stars: Aria, Rhythm, Cindy and Otis, pictured above. You can find their stories and many others on our website here: www.loudshirtdaynz.org/real-stories

These four are among the hundreds of New Zealand children who come to The Hearing House and the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme for audiology services and auditory-verbal therapy. All services are free to families.

You can hold a fundraiser at your work, school or in the community. Register here: www.loudshirtdaynz.org/register

Schools could hold a mufti-day, businesses might hold a themed morning tea, individuals can host a breakfast for their friends asking everyone to bring a donation with them and retirement villages could stage a fashion parade. Check out www.loudshirtdaynz.org/fundraise for more ideas.

Participants can hold their event on Friday September 27, or any date that suits them in September.

Every donation made through GiveALittle is directed to Loud Shirt Day.

About us

The Hearing House is a charity for deaf children and their families. Our mission is to enable deaf or hearing impaired children to listen and speak like their hearing peers. We aim to give deaf children with cochlear implants or hearing aids the ability to fulfil their potential and live an independent life in a hearing and speaking world.

Use of funds

Money raised for Loud Shirt Day helps provide auditory-verbal therapy to deaf and hearing-impaired children so they can listen and speak like hearing kids. The aim is for deaf children to focus on their abilities, not their disability.
