Help Gavin support his girls after losing their beloved mum Louise to cancer
On June 4th, Gavin said goodbye to his beloved wife, Louise Ngaei-Clearkin, after she contracted an extremely aggressive form of uterine cancer. He and their two young daughters have been left reeling after losing Louise within weeks of her diagnosis. Your contribution will help Gavin provide ongoing care and crucial support for his girls, aged eight and six, at this incredibly difficult and distressing time.
Louise found out she had a rare form of uterine cancer, called Leiomyosarcoma, in the April school holidays. The tumour grew rapidly and, sadly, it did not respond to chemo.
Louise was a truly devoted mum to her girls and the family’s shining light. Gavin, a nutritionist who helps both ordinary people and elite athletes, is the family’s main earner. He’s spent the last two months juggling work, family commitments, while caring for both Lou and the children. As a self-employed contractor, he won’t get bereavement leave, sick leave or any financial help whatsoever, to take time off to look after his daughters.
Our beloved Lou was also a talented artist and stylist, as well as a funny, caring and supportive friend to so many people. She was also an incredibly loved daughter, much cherished sister, cousin, niece, and auntie.
Your donation will be of real help to Gavin – allowing him to maintain as normal a life as possible for his daughters. It would help him to pay for, for example, funeral costs and childcare, giving him the space to focus on the girls, now and in future.
Any contribution you can make is enormously appreciated.
I am a friend of Louise, Gavin and the girls. This page has been created by a group of friends wanting to support the family.
Your donations will go towards childcare, school costs and anything that helps alleviate day to day money worries, allowing Gavin to care for Evie and Savvy at this difficult time. It will also safeguard the children’s future, with money for schooling.
A big thank you for all your support, here is an update from Gavin. 5 December 2021
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to send an extremely heartfelt thank you to all who have shown support with your donations. I am blown away by the kindness and generosity and truly grateful and appreciative. The financial support was invaluable in such tough times. It is now 6 months since my beautiful wife passed away and life is still a massive struggle without her. She was taken from us suddenly and way too soon, it is a huge adjustment to cope with. We remembered Louise on her birthday in October, Evie had her birthday a couple of weeks back and Savannah’s is next week, then Christmas is coming up of course. These milestones are very hard to get through, especially for the kids as they miss their mummy so much. We continue to try and get through as best we can, life is tough but we take it one day at a time. Lockdowns certainly haven’t helped of course. I am trying to find a way forward combining being a fulltime dad to my kids and fitting in work when I am able to, it is extremely challenging to say the least. My main priority is being there for them and helping them navigate a life with no mummy in it.
Thank you everyone and I hope you all have a lovely Christmas. Cherish time with family.
Gavin x
