Lynne’s fight against AML

If you are fortunate enough to have met the bubbly,always smiling,Lynne Prictor, you would know she is a born an bred Mangawhai Local of 55 years.

Her mother still residing independently in Mangawhai at 90 years old. The family spans over 5 generations and being involved in many community initiatives over this wide span of time.

Lynne has been heavily involved as a volunteer for the Mangawhai Harbour Restoration society for the past 3-4 years and also an advocate for the restoration of the Mangawhai Historical Wharf being reinstated.

Lynne’s recent challenge for herself was becoming a member of the Local Fit365 crossfit gym, there she shed 10kgs whilst gaining muscle,strength and optimal health...she was in the best shape she’s been in since her early 30’s.

4 weeks ago her world was turned upside down.

Going to the dentist for a simple tooth extraction led to suspected blood poisoning and a ride in the ambulance to the hospital. Conventional antibiotics weren’t working and a series of blood tests confirmed something more serious.

After a whirlwind few days she was diagnosed via bone marrow biopsy that she had Leukemia . Just 2 days later she was in Auckland hospital ready to began treatment to fight off this hideous disease.

Lynne has been diagnosed with 3rd stage AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia)

She’s had 7days of extensive chemo already, with the possibility of 3 more treatments to go.

With a bit of fairy dust we are hoping that Lynne gets to come home for 10 days when her immunity is back up, but then she will be back in hospital for more rounds of chemo.

We have set this page up to support Lynne and her family , mainly so her husband , Darryl, can catch a break from being the local panelbeater/painter and be by her side most days in hospital , as he is Lynne’s strength.

We would appreciate any help you may be willing to give .
