My daughter's vision is at 60% with glasses and in need of urgent surgery bc of Amblyopia’s progression.
Auckland
Hey Everyone,
My daughter Aurelia Margosha is in need of 2 surgeries for reattachment of vertical eye muscles on both eyes to fix a vertical strabismus and stop Amblyopia’s progression. Amblyopia can occur in early childhood. When nerve pathways between the brain and an eye aren't properly stimulated, the brain favours the other eye. Symptoms include a wandering eye, eyes that may not appear to work together or poor depth perception, both eyes may be affected. And In her case, both eyes are affected.
Details are listed below.
Diagnosis: OU-operated convergent(horizontal)strabismus with a vertical component, mixed
astigmatism, medium-degree amblyopia. Surgical treatment of vertical strabismus is needed.
Surgery’s date: January 24, 2018
Margosha two surgeries will be on both eyes to reattach her upper vertical eyes muscles. It will
give her a better vision, fixed eyes position and less pressure on the brain that trying to control
them throughout the day and fails sometimes to keep them in the right place, gives her a red eye
and headache in the evening.
Margo already had two surgeries on both eyes 3 years ago at nearly 1 years old to treat her convergent strabismus (horizontal cross-eyes) along with nystagmus and paralyzes of eyes muscles- she got amazing results! Now she wears glasses with special lenses to correct her astigmatism and myopia. Unfortunately, she has Amblyopia: her vision is only around 60% and no lenses or glasses can fix it. Margo went through 3 courses of special treatment and got her vision better but after they
were ended, regression started. The problem of all these struggles now is vertical strabismus that
must be treated as soon as possible to stop this circle and get on track of healthier vision, more
relaxed eyes muscles and happier brain.
If there is anything you can give to help contribute to my little angels eyes, I would great appreciate it. We have about 1/3rd of the amount towards the surgery, $5,513 NZD.
Expenses me and her mother need to cover are listed below:
1) $9402 x2 nzd - surgery on vertical eyes muscles.
2) $139 nzd - optical coherent tomography.
3) $70 nzd- appointment with a surgeon.

($16,277 or $20,811) NZD
I just want my daughter to be able to have a normal colourful childhood, shes extremely artistic and breaks my heart for to be hindered confidence and life wise from being able to enjoy herself to her best potential. I know Christmas Time and New Years is approaching but anything would be much appreciated. It's been a long road but she's worth all the effort as all children are.
Surgery must be done in Russia due to her citizenship and medical history being in Russia. However, if there is a medical doctor that could perform the surgery in New Zealand and it be more cost efficient, both parents are willing and open to make that happen.
The Funds use will be directly for medical treatment for my daughter. Any surplus amount if we exceed our target will go to additional families that are in need of medical treatment, pending the outcome of this sensitive surgical procedure with eyes.
