Maya’s 12 month Upgrade for her Type 1 Diabetes Care.
Kaitaia, Northland
This year has been a difficult year for all, that’s for sure. With Xmas, New Year and my Birthday coming up in January I wanted to create this page for anyone who was wanting to gift, instead to me but to my daughter for her yearly diabetes care.
Not many of you would be aware but Sandra and I finalised our divorce which means I am no longer permanent at the family home.
Being able to gift Maya with the “Dexcom G6” for a year would take away any financial and psychological pressure and therefore give Maya the freedom an 8yr old girl deserves.
The Dexcom G6 is a continuous glucose monitor device which is not funded in NZ.
There are other cheaper options, as the one we are using now but that is still paired with a lot of unnecessary stress and the occasional failure resulting in buying another one before it even has been expired. (As not a single continuous glucose monitor is funded in NZ).
This new upgrade will allow us to connect our phone at anytime and anywhere, thus giving Maya the chance to go and venture with friends so Mum, me or her support team will know at anytime what her sugar levels are.
Every cent you guys donate will go into a fund specifically for Maya and her diabetes care only.
For the lovely people out there that want to have a look what the device actually is…

Thank you out of the bottom of my heart and wishing you and your loved ones all the best.
Take care
Mike
