Help us fund Mike's unfunded cancer treatment (T-DXd/Enhertu), giving him more precious time with his family.
Christchurch, Canterbury
Hi, I’m Harriet, Mike’s wife, & we are lucky to be parents to Patrick & Elaina (12 & 9)
Our life was busy in all the wonderfully ordinary ways: work, school, sport, & plans for the future. Overnight, that changed.
On 11 September 2025, Mike had a seizure affecting the right side of this body. We initially thought he had sciatica or similar. Instead, Mike was diagnosed with colon cancer that had spread to his lungs & brain.
Suddenly, Mike was struggling to walk, use his arm, text, couldn't work or manage everyday tasks.
Mike has since endured two brain tumour removals, a stent, a stoma, targeted & whole-brain radiation, plus countless tests & scans.
Now we face a new hurdle. Mike’s treatment, T-DXd will cost us approximately $17,000 a month. Further surgeries & treatments may also be unfunded which we will update as we can.
With incredible family support, we have done everything we can to keep Mike in treatment, but we cannot continue funding it alone.
We know there may not be a cure. But Mike is still here, still fighting & still has treatment options available. We want more timemore ordinary days, adventures, birthdays & memories.
Donations will go towards treatment, & keeping future opportunities open, including potential overseas options.
Mike has shown extraordinary determination. While he keeps fighting, so will we.
If you cannot donate, sharing our story would mean just as much.
Thank you for helping us give Mike the best chance we can.
With love,
Harriet, Mike, Patrick & Elaina x
Mike is my husband of 13 years and father to our two children, Patrick and Elaina (12 and 9)
Funds will help cover Mike’s unfunded cancer treatment, currently costing $17,000 a month, along with any unfunded surgeries including potential overseas treatment options. The current treatment is T-DXd/Enhertu & we are looking at Australian treatments.
Wee blip but back on track! 27 September 2026
Mike, his dad and Patrick attempted a wee venture in the caravan to Tekapo to see if Mr Patrick could catch a fish - which did not happen!
The trip go caught a little short as Mike experienced a focal seizure - which is a seizure that is localised in an area. This time it mainly affected Mikes arm and stomach.
After a night in Christchurch hospital, they have told us Mike has swelling around all the tumours in his brain which has put a bit of pressure there.
He is home, fine and doing well. He is back on some medications to help with swelling and his seizure medications have been increased.
We are calling this a blip!
We have one more week until Mike has his second round of Enhertu. He has managed the first round relatively well (swelling was not related!)
Thank you again for all your support!
Please keep sharing our story if you feel you can. We are so grateful for every donation and share.
Hopefully our next update will be round 2 and not a trip to ED!!
All our love,
Harriet, Mike, Patrick and Elaina
