Taking part in the 'Mongol Rally' 2020 to raise money for the heart-warming causes supported by ChildFund NZ and Cool Earth.

International

We are Team Mongol Motion, four Kiwi's, taking part in a behemoth of an adventure called 'The Mongol Rally 2020'. Starting in Europe July 2020, we will drive a small and wholly unsuitable car through 20+ countries (the majority of which can't be pronounced) to Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.

Seven weeks of dust-eating, pot-hole hitting, motoring madness, all in a bid to raise money for two great charities - ChildFund NZ and Cool Earth.

As a small sign of our appreciation:

- Every donor of $50 or more, can send us a selfie that we will print on our 'Flag of Legends', which will travel with us on the rally.

- Every donor of $100 or more, will receive a personal postcard from us during the rally. It's not every day you get mail from Tajikistan!

Go on, add another 0 to that figure, we dare you...!

You can find out more about these amazing charities on our website - mongolmotion.com, or read on for a brief overview of why we chose each of these causes.

ChildFund NZ's noble aim is a world free from child poverty, where no child suffers from preventable diseases or hunger, where no child is exploited or harmed, where every child feels cared for, where every child is strong and healthy in body and mind, educated and confident. Within our team of four, we have traveled to the majority of the select countries in which ChildFund NZ operates, and seen the hardships and inequalities, first-hand. Children really are the future and what better cause to support than giving them all an equal chance at making our/their world a safe and habitable place for generations to come!

Cool Earth is the official charity of the Mongol Rally event organisers. They work long-term with select indigenous communities, to provide support in a holistic approach that allows the communities to continue to look after and protect the rainforest areas in which they live. Climate change and global warming are real threats that will increasingly cause serious problems to humanity worldwide. We're relatively fond of our earth and would like to help it stay cool, at least $1,000 of our funds raised will be going towards Cool Earth.

Joshua Purcell's involvement (page creator)

As a team of four, we have collectively travelled to a large majority of the countries in which ChildFund NZ supports children, and we would like to give back to these communities in some way. Cool Earth - because climate change is real.

Use of funds

Regardless of us crossing the finish line or our car succumbing to the plains of Central Asia, all funds raised will be donated to our charities. At least $1,000 NZD will be donated to Cool Earth and anything above this will go to ChildFund NZ.

Rally Postponed to 2021  21 September 2020

Due to the current global situation, the 2020 Rally has been postponed to 2021.

But fear not, our enthusiasm for driving a third of the earth in an old rust bucket wanes not. Yes, you will have to wait a whole entire extra year to live out your wildest adventure dreams vicariously through us, however, we have a great opportunity to now raise even more money for our great charities!

With that in mind, let's smash this target!
