Megan needs financial support to help pay for her unfunded bowel cancer treatment. To recuperate & spend quality time with her family.
Auckland
This is Megan. Mum, wife, daughter, sister, aunty, cousin, niece, co-worker, netball coach, bootcamp-buddy, friend, volunteer. In December 2015 at 42 she was diagnosed with colon cancer and underwent surgery and 6 months of chemotherapy to fight it.
After her vigorous treatment Megan started to enjoy life again with husband Mike, teenage daughters Natalie & Jade and adult sons Dylan & Tyler, and she was given the all-clear at a regular check-up in January 2017. Only a few months later through tests and scans it was discovered the cancer had returned and spread to her lymph nodes in other parts of her body and she was given the difficult diagnosis that the cancer was now terminal.
Megan is determined to fight this. She starts chemo in September 2017 and there are additional drugs, Avastin and Cetuximab, that Megan can have included to her regime to help the fight and extend her life expectancy however they are expensive and non-funded. In response to the number of people who have expressed their wish to help and support Megan and her family during this time we have created this page.
I am involved because Megan is an amazing woman and good friend. Her volunteer work coaching netball over the last 15 years, has had a huge impact on our community and this is a chance for people to give back to a very special woman.
You can't put a price on life and quality time with your loved ones so with your support we can help Megan get both the treatment that she needs and the opportunity to recover and heal from the treatment by assisting with donations for her to spend time creating memories with her family and friends.
