Mt Cook Marathon for MATES in Construction

With the highest suicide rate of any industry within New Zealand, MATES in Construction are working diligently to help spread awareness of mental health, wellbeing and suicide prevention within the construction industry. After a rough start to 2020, i've got no doubt that organizations like MATES in Construction will be doing a lot of good for a lot of people.

additionally, long working hours, boom and bust cycles , high pressure, workplace bullying and a culture of not allowing the discussion of problems with work mates are some of the contributing factors to these alarmingly high suicide rates.

With over 7 years in the industry I have seen and experienced first hand some of the accompanying stresses that come with the job. To help support this great cause on the 3rd of October I am going to be running the Mt Cook Marathon with all donated funds going to MATES in Construction. This money will go on to help a tradie like myself and many others out of a rough patch while also spreading awareness of why it's okay to open up to your mates.
