Never Lose Hope: Education in Gulu Women's Prison

For a donation, you can access the incredible stories of some brave souls in Gulu Women's Prison, Northern Uganda. In doing so, you can help hundreds of prisoners to gain education and hope.

I have been working as a teacher in the prison for six months. A dream has grown to equip those prisoners who have some education to teach their fellow inmates literacy and other subjects.

We need to make some start-up purchases of teaching materials including phonics resources, readers, manuals, curriculum books, and a stock of chalk, exercise books, and pens.

The Advanced English Class I have been running have poured heart and soul into writing stories and poems to share with the world, and offer something in exchange for your help. You can get either a physical or online copy of this. If you would like a physical copy, a friend in NZ will be printing and posting from there. Please keep in mind cost of production (a few dollars per copy) and postage to your location when you make your donation.

Trigger warning: while these stories are, overall, incredibly hopeful, they do include reference to terrible and brutal crimes. I think readers should be aware of this.

While my focus has been women's education, I am also equipping prisoners in the Gulu Men's Prison to teach phonics (this prison already has a general education system). A small percentage of our funds will go to resources for this.
