NICU journey bags for parents going through one of the hardest things they will ever have to go through
Canterbury
Hey, we are Annie and Ava Johnston.
We were born at 28 weeks and 4 days at Christchurch woman's hospital on June 3rd, 2019. We were both small, only weighing 500 grams (Annie) and 822 grams (Ava).
We spent 138 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). We were due on August 22nd, 2019 but as you can see we do things on our own terms. We have both had a tough time in the last year with our own ongoing health battles, including multiple stays in the pediatric ward since coming home in October.
Our Mum and Dad have decided we should give back to the NICU mum's and dad's on their own journeys, whether it's been one day in NICU or 100. Mum said she is going to make up packs for the mum's and dad's to help make the journey that little bit easier. She calls them Journey Bags.
The journey bags will contain a number of items for the baby's and parent's journey. Items will include a notebook, pen, drink bottle, food and coffee vouchers, plus other treats. Upon reflection, these are the little things Mum and Dad thought would help make a difference to other mum's and dad's.
We hope you can help us with a small donation. Anything would be amazing! Mum and Dad are hoping to keep the journey bags going for a long time to come and all money raised will go towards the costs to set them up.
Thank you for reading this far and thank you for donating. Got to go and cause some trouble for Mum and Dad now, see ya!

Our main goal is to keep making these packs for as long as we can. All money raised will go towards the costs to set them up.
