North Otago Breath Better STEP-tember is a walkathon for our weekly Respiratory Exercise Class.

September is Respiratory Awareness Month, known as “Breathe Better September” The aim is for kiwis to join together to raise awareness and improve respiratory health for all ages.

Rolling on from Asthma Awareness Week, Breathe Better September starts with the National Balloon Day, on 2nd September 2016.

North Otago Asthma Society have a variety of events during Asthma Awareness Week

Including a street appeal and sausage sizzle on Balloon Day and FREE Children’s Fun Day on 3rd September.

During Breath Better STEP-tember the North Otago Respiratory Exercise Class attendees will be stepping out pounding the EXE St pavements. Our goal is to “Breath Better” and raise awareness and funds to allow the North Otago Asthma Society to continue to provide services to the community.

Our Pulmonary Respiratory Class is held every Thursday, it is a support group which aims to maintain, and or increase respiratory fitness for people living with respiratory conditions such as COPD and Asthma. This September the class will be stepping out to raise awareness and funds to support the North Otago Asthma Society

About us

North Otago Asthma Society (NOAS) is a non government organization, we rely on our loyal members and volunteers to help in raising funds to allow us to continue providing support, education and services to people in the Waitaki Region who live with respiratory conditions.

NOAS endeavor to improve respiratory health through a variety of FREE services. Our Nurse Educator is available to see all ages for individual or group education sessions. By educating people with respiratory conditions to understand their condition so they can manage it and keep well.

Free Services Include:

- Free Respiratory information/resources

- Respiratory Exercise Class – every Thursday

- Open Clinic – 12 – 2 pm every Thursday

- Respiratory and Nebuliser products for hire/sale,

- Community education and presentations available to individuals, whanau, schools.

- Raising awareness of the importance of good respiratory health aiming to keeping people well in the community and avoiding hospitalization
