Help Nynke and her family navigate this final journey in her battle with cancer.
Manawatu / Whanganui
July 2024: Nynke shared with us all that the "dreaded beastie, called breast cancer, has returned".
Metastatic invasive lobular cancer to be exact.
That was just 2 months ago. Now we are here.
Nynke has bravely shared the journey from her cancer diagnosis this year. Regular updates on her signs, symptoms, treatments and hospitilisations, keeping a brave face and even adding a splash of dry humour.
Nynke has remained stoic and resilient through it all.
Nynke has done this not just for her own mental/spiritual purposes, but to spread awareness of this cruel disease and to help others as well.
Nynke is a warrior, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mum, a friend, a nurse, a teacher.... The list goes on and we don't have long.
She is one of the strongest people I know.
So strong, we thought she was indestructible. Having already gone through breast cancer 7 years ago and coming out, we thought, the victor.
Which is why we are reeling from this terrible news.
Nynke's cancer has overcome her body. She is not going to win this battle.
The cancer has spread through her body to her vital organs.
Nynke and her husband Nick now have the impossible task of trying to prepare their 3 children for what is to come, whilst still processing it themselves.
The goal now is quality of life.
To get Nynke home and keep her as comfortable as possible with her family by her side.
We are hoping this page will help give financial relief to Nynke and Nick, one less worry during this unbearable time.
Nynke is my sister (in law). My brother Nick's wife.
The funds will be used to help make Nynke comfortable at home, assist her family financially during this difficult time and for funeral costs.
In loving memory 9 September 2024
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to let you know our Nynke passed away Sunday 8th September 2024.
Nynke was able to spend her final days at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was at peace with what was coming and confident about the future for Nick, Jessie, Kayla, and Alexander.
Nynke will be greatly missed.
Our family would like to thank you all, not only for your kind donations, but for the kind, heartfelt messages and show of support.
