She did it, Tasha has been selected as an Oceania Region referee and needs a bit of a hand getting her way to the IFMA worlds
Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui
Tasha has been reffing Muay Thai in New Zealand for several years now, with numerous fights under her belt including NZ and Oceania titles. Tasha has now been given the opportunity to referee internationally at the International Federation of Muay Thai Association (IFMA) World Championships in Kuala Lumper as an Oceania Region representative.
A letter from the Chairperson of the IFMA Gender Quality Commission:
"Tasha Chambers has been identified as being an upcoming talent as a Muay Thai referee in New Zealand. As part of the IFMA Gender Equality Commission’s equity drive to increase inclusivity for female referees Tasha has been selected to represent the Oceania region and train as an international IFMA referee at the IFMA Muay Thai World Championships.
The opportunity comes with sponsorship in the form of 10 days accommodation and food in Kuala Lumpur. Tasha will be expected to fund her own travel and insurance, the cost of the Course, and other personal incidentals.
Upon graduation from the IFMA international Referees & Judges course, Tasha will return to New Zealand, where she will use the additional experience and knowledge she has gained to help promote referee career pathways in Muay Thai, especially for women, and assist the NZMF team in the development and growth of NZMF referees and judges.
We wish Tasha all the best with her fundraising efforts and are very excited to be able to offer her this well deserved opportunity"
