Help us get Nicks’ home modifications done - so he can come home and be safely mobile
Auckland
Helen and Nick are a wonderful couple who are going through a bit of a rough patch after Nick sadly suffered a stroke on the 23rd of May.
Nick now has weakness on his left side which affects his mobility (and playing his guitar! 😕) Their lovely dog Hunter is missing her Dad dearly and is looking forward to his return
While Nick is undergoing rehab and living-in at Auckland Hospital, Helen is trying to get their house ready for Nick’s impending (and much anticipated) return home
Unfortunately the paths are too wonky for Nick to walk on as he is a little unstable on his feet. The plan with this page is to seek donations to help cover the costs to get the paths concreted, and any remaining funds used for all the other small items; he'll need grab rails and adjusted steps in and out of the house and rails also in the bathroom.
Helen and I have been friends for 35+ years. She is a lovely person who always lends me moral support when I need it. She has had a lot of weight on her shoulders for the last few weeks and she needs some additional support now.
The main goal is to get funds to fix the paving/paths outside. Secondarily if there is any surplus; to get additional support railings and other upgrades required indoors for disability modifications he may require
Quick update! 10 July 2018
Thanks again to all the people supporting Helen and Nick.
Nick is now home and making use of all the changes made inide the house - to help him make his own way around.
Take a look at the pics 🙂 new handrails and stair treads
Helen also let me know that the concrete is coming next Monday and then Nick will have an easier time getting around outside too!
Thanks so much to everyone who has contributed - every single dollar counts!
