Help us get to New York. (Carnegie Hall)

Greetings from the Christchurch Pops Choir (The Vocal Collective)!

It has already been a fabulous year for us - singing the French and New Zealand national anthems at the Crusaders vs French Barbarians game; singing at half-time in the final of the Crusaders vs Lions final; singing at the Canterbury Business Awards; Opening Tedx 2018; performing at a number of festivals around Christchurch (Scape, Singfest) and of course, working to bring two superb concerts of our own to our fabulous fans and supporters.

As if that wasn’t enough, we have some more very exciting news to share - that is that earlier this year, we received a letter from DCINY (Distinguished Concerts In New York) inviting US to join in for the 2019 workshops and concert!

If you have seen the Pitch Perfect movies, you’ll be familiar with the sorts of songs that we will be singing as a part of this spectacular show - and what’s more, three days of rehearsals will culminate with us joining a 400 strong choir with members from all around the globe to sing on stage at Carnegie Hall! It is truly a bucket list dream come true for many singers, so it is even more impressive that 50 of us from Christchurch will get the chance to tick it off in one fell swoop!

Naturally we are very excited at this invitation - it is a great chance for us to increase the presence of Christchurch performers on a high profile international stage and to cement our mark even more firmly on the international singing world. As a part of our trip we will also be spending time performing in Washington DC, as well as performing a couple of independent shows whilst we are in New York - great opportunities in their own right.

As you can no doubt imagine, there is a significant cost associated with getting our 50 choir members to New York - and with that in mind, we are looking to secure sponsorship to assist us with covering the expenses of travel, accommodation and participation fees. We have a fundraising target of $50,000.00 so any bit of support is hugely appreciated.
