We are walking from Christchurch to Parliament to challenge the 'profit at any cost' mentality that threatens Our Children's Future.
Canterbury
We will be walking 20 kms per day from Oct 15 to Nov 5 to challenge Labour and the Greens to commit to categorically rejecting the TPP, because it will exacerbate problems such as climate change, inequality and polluted water. Please help us to raise funds for food, accommodation, ferry tickets and support vehicle.
"Tema, Pita, Jai and I are walking the whole distance. Our hope for the Hikoi is to make the TPPA the biggest election issue in order to draw attention to the 'profit at any cost' mentality, and inspire communities to act to safeguard Our Children's Future. It is significant that we'll be in Wellington for the anniversary of the 1841 government attack on the pacifist Maori settlement Parihaka, the events of which inspired Gandhi to peaceful protest. You are very welcome to join the Hikoi. See our FaceBook page for our itinerary, details and updates."
