outRUN: To raise money for children and families in NZ who are victims of abuse and poverty by participating in community sporting events.

Hello and welcome to Team outRUN,

outRUN is an initiative established with a goal of raising money for children and families within Counties Manukau and New Zealand who are victims of abuse and poverty; outRUN ensures that with the money raised, those children and families will benefit wholly from outRUN’s efforts. We aim to raise money through active participation in community sporting events - beginning with the Rotorua Marathon in May 2021.

outRUN started with two friends - Maia, a 22-year-old Paediatric Registered Nurse, and Chloe, a 21-year-old Food Marketing and Commerce Major from Otago University; determined to make a difference while encouraging and challenging both self and others to get up, get out, and run for a great cause.

On average, 1 child dies every 5 weeks in New Zealand as a result of homicide; more than 2/3 of those children are aged two and younger (Child Matters, 2019). This statistic, unfortunately, supports that New Zealand is the leading country in the developed world for domestic violence. This is not okay, things need to change, our children need to feel loved and protected.

outRUN will be at the Rotorua Marathon on Saturday the 8th of May 2021. Join us as we tackle 42.2 kilometres around beautiful Lake Rotorua, all the while raising money and awareness for our precious tamariki and whanau. We would love to see you there – whether it is registering for your own run/walk, cheering from the roadside and at the finish line, or donating via givealittle to our wonderful initiative. Your support is so appreciated.

Let us become the leading country in the developed world for CHILD SAFETY. Let’s get out there and run - run for our children. They need us. Together we can action invaluable change, one stride at a time.

Use of funds

Funds will be spent directly to/on children or families who are victims of abuse and poverty by way of providing: safety boxes for children admitted inpatient or with no belongings, clothing items, education, grocery & petrol vouchers & additional needs.
