We are a small group of drama students wanting to present a commemorative piece for the centenary of the Battle of Passchendaele in 2017.
Waikato
This project is part street theatre, part art installation. It is inspired by ‘We’re Here Because We’re Here’ by Jeremy Deller with Rufus Norris, commissioned by 14-18 NOW to commemorate the centenary of the first day of the Battle of the Somme, 1 July 2016. Our project remembers the 840 kiwi men who died during four hours of battle on the 12th October. This battle of the Western Front affected many New Zealand families. It should not be forgotten. We should learn from it. This piece will be staged in Matamata, Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Hamilton and Morrinsville on 28th Sept 2017.
I am the director of the piece and the Head of Drama at Morrinsville College.
Re-opening the page 11 July 2017
We would like to reopen this page to try and raise a few more dollars towards the costs of this project. It has been scaled back from the original concept due to financial restrictions. I hope we can at least cover the cost of the costumes through Givealittle. Thank you to those who have already donated!
Thanks so much - we will!
