Pine Valley Outdoor Centre - The Next Chapter!

We want to reconnect Marlborough children with a genuinely 'Marlborough' experience!

Marlborough

The Pine Valley Outdoor Centre has been a go-to venue for camps for Marlborough schools and families for many years (since 1984 in fact!). However, in the past few years there has been a slight decline in the usage of the facilities and the centre itself is now facing some changes too with stalwarts, Lloyd and Val Mapp, looking to retire from the care and administration of the centre and, our long-term maintenance person relocating to Golden Bay.

So, the current committee is really motivated and committed to bringing life back to the centre and future-proofing the facility for generations of Marlborough school children to come.

We want to reconnect Marlborough children with a genuinely 'Marlborough' experience!

We are looking to build an 'Administration Centre' on-site to house a 'Centre Facilitator'. This will enable us to offer much more to groups visiting the centre and to keep the camp fresh, functional and FUN!

We even have a draft plan in place for a brand new 3-tier education programme that would bring together local iwi, conservation groups and education services while offering teachers support in the planning and administrative aspects of organising camp. This is very much in its infancy but we have the support and guidance of some local teachers and we are very excited about the ideas that have surfaced so far!

We know that the Pine Valley Outdoor Centre is a much loved Marlborough icon and hope to get plenty of support!

Update - 1st Jan 2019 - We are now well on our way to achieving our fundraising goals and we have received support from many local sources. There's a way to go but we are very excited about beginning to move forward with our development project.

About us

The Pine Valley Outdoor Centre is located in the Wairau Valley, Marlborough. We provide opportunities for children to develop confidence, self esteem, try new things, connect with the world around them in a safe and meaningful way and, we've been doing so for 35 years!

Use of funds

Funds contributed by the community will go directly towards the development at Pine Valley Outdoor Centre - towards the building of the cottage or the purchasing of resources to support the education programme. The more we raise the more we can do!

"Good Bones"  23 January 2020

We are incredibly close to achieving our goal of getting a caretaker / administration building up to the camp at Pine Valley.

So close, in fact, that as of today it is estimated that we only need a further $30,000 to complete the job!

Local businesses have been incredibly generous in donated both materials and labour.

Hopefully within the next 6 weeks 'Good Bones' will make its way up the valley and then it will be super busy with different contractors getting the building all kitted out. Watch this space for updates or visit us on Facebook - Pine Valley Outdoor Centre (@PVOCMarlborough)
