Please help Izzy kick cancer to the curb

Isabelle is the daughter of Jodie and Jez Lodge and a big sister to Elizabeth and William.

Following recent tests due to pain in the lower back area, our beautiful girl Isabelle has been admitted to Christchurch Children’s Hospital and has since been diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma. Ewings Sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that occurs in bone or the soft tissue surrounding the bones and typically occurs in children and young adults. In Isabelle’s case the cancer has developed in the spine which means surgery to remove the tumor is not an option. Isabelle is relying on chemotherapy treatment for the next 6-12 months coupled with radiation therapy to treat the cancer.

Isabelle is currently in a wheelchair however we are optimistic the treatments Isabelle is receiving will shrink the tumor leaving the possibility of walking without pain a reality in the future.

Like a true warrior Isabelle is up for the fight, continuing to smile and taking all of this within her stride. We are all confident Isabelle will beat this cancer and kick it to the curb. Isabelle is a determined beautiful vibrant young lady with a caring nature who has a great passion for music and is an accomplished student who attends Waimea College.

Due to the treatment Isabelle requires, it is expected that she will need to spend the next year in Christchurch hospital with her mother, a long way from her network of family and friends. During this time there will be ongoing additional and unexpected expenses that will be incurred by the family for medical, therapy, travel, food and accommodation.

With two younger siblings and her Dad back in Nelson, fundraising is going to be crucial in helping the Lodge family get through this difficult journey.
