Please help Janine Hallewell

First the bad news...

Our friend Janine Hallewell is once again facing open heart surgery. This is her third open heart procedure and, being the person that she is, Janine will no doubt bounce back from it as she has in the past.

This time her position is somewhat more complicated and she will need daily blood tests commencing immediately that her surgery is completed and continuing when she gets home, for an indefinite period.

Now it doesn't take much figuring out that a daily trip to a blood centre while still recovering from a traumatic operation is fraught with danger and discomfort and we'd like to spare her that. We should also remember that while all this is going on, Janine is unable to work.

Now the good news...

There's a way you can help.

There's a machine available which can monitor Janine's condition without the need for a doctor or nurse to draw blood in the usual way. The machine, a Coaguchek allows Janine to monitor the clotting factors in her blood daily, so that she can take the correct dose of medication. All she has to do is prick her finger, saving the potential collapse of her veins from constant daily needling.

The Coaguchek costs around $1200 dollars, and there's an annual service fee of $400. We are hoping to help Janine by raising $1600 which will cover the cost of the machine plus the service fee for the first year.

Please donate as much as you can so that we can buy this machine. If you know Janine you'll know that she'd do it for you if the situation was reversed, so please dig deep and hopefully we should get there before she leaves hospital and has to endure all those daily journeys.
