Please help support Kerri and her family.
Kerri is an early years teacher. Kerri spends her days working hard ensuring the children in her care have ample time and resources to have fun, explore and join together on a pathway of discovery. Kerri has two young children of her own who keep her very busy.
On the 29th March Kerri had an accident at work. She fell over a piece of duplo landing on her knee causing it to move out of place. Over the next few weeks Kerri had to rest her knee after the found a crack and severe swelling. This is when things took a turn.......
Keri started experiencing chest pains and other symptoms that began to worry her and her family. After a few nights she knew it wasn't right and went to the hospital. After a chest x-ray and CT scan, the worst was found. A mass lager than your fist was found in Kerri's chest, wrapping around the vessels to her heart and compressing her lungs. This was a huge shock to the family!
With more tests, scans, biopsy after biopsy Kerri's stay in hospital became longer and longer. Her young children started finding it hard and asking questions that no one knew how to answer. Her son, the eldest of the two who has just turned 3, troubled as to why his mummy wasn't allowed home from the hospital to tuck him in at night. Her daughter, soon to turn 2, confused and upset hating having to leave the hospital without mummy.
3 weeks later Kerri and her family started getting answers. Although they were not the answers they saw coming - Advanced Stage 4 Mixed Celluarlity Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Kerri is only 30 years of age and is now facing a hard battle ahead of her. With only the prognosis of 40-50% going into remission Kerri is trying to stay strong for her family. Kerri's husband Jonathan is an apprentice panel beater and with Kerri not being able to work things are starting to get very hard for them. It is going to be a long, tough road ahead for Kerri but we know that her focus is on ensuring her husband and children have what they need while she cannot support them financially.
