19 year old Liam not only looked after his 47 yr old dad diagnosed with terminal cancer, he now has to pay for his funeral on his own.
Liam is 19 years old and lived with his dad Grant in a rented house. From December 2018, Liam looked after his father who was diagnosed with throat cancer at the age of 47, which then spread to his brain and this was found just after the New Year. Suddenly on Sunday 20th January Liams dad died in front of him. He performed CPR and the ambulance tried everything they could also, but unfortunately his dad passed away.
Liam will be applying for the funeral grant through WINZ which will contribute $2000 towards the cost of the funeral, there will be $4000 left to pay. Other family members cannot contribute.
Liam has found a cleaning job starting Monday in the interim to help with living costs, but is barely enough for anything else.
Liam is very brave and mature but has not even had time to grieve for the loss of his dad. I am hoping that with Givealittle, this May ease this burden for him. Any donations towards this is hugely grateful!
