Please help Lilly the cat get her operation

Lilly is now in her forever home and urgently needs an operation. I am currently an intern on low pay and need help with this expense.

Lilly the cat turned up on my door step a few months ago and soon moved in when it became obvious she had no where else to go. She has now made herself right at home in her forever home.

She has a beautiful nature and is very warm and friendly. She is a torti-tabby and probably 5 to 7 years old. I let her settle in before taking her to the vet which I did recently. During the time she has been staying with me I noticed she was missing a few teeth and had a pimple like bump on her head. When I got to the vet I pointed them out to her. It turns out (poor Lilly!) has a few bad teeth, some of which need to be removed and an abscess that needs clearing up. Her remaining teeth will be descaled and polished. much like happens to us humans.

This suggests she was either ill-treated in her former living situation or has lived a rough life after leaving her former home for reasons unknown. I am upset that she has lived with a bad mouth, for goodness knows how long now, but the main thing is an operation has now been scheduled for 24/1/19.

The lump is probably a cyst and will be removed at the same time. Since her history is unknown she will also have exploratory surgery to see if her female reproductive organs are still inside her or not; if they are they will be removed, which will add approx $60 to the operation costs. As a result, the operation has been quoted to cost somewhere between NZ$850 - 910.

I am currently a church intern on low pay. I have a couple of extra part time jobs but my income really only meets basic expenses. The start of the year is definitely an expensive time for most people and this unexpected cost will no doubt stretch me. Any help you can give towards Lilly's operation will be most welcome. Use of funds

The funds will only be spent on Lilly's operation. If any additional funds are raised I will donate them to the local branch of the SPCA. I will post regular updates on Lilly's recovery and copies of all receipts.

Successful operation thanks to YOU! 26 January 2019

Well the big news is, puss has now had 'her' operation, thanks to your generosity. The lump on her head was successfully removed along with 4 teeth. The rest of her teeth have been polished and descaled so her nashers are now good to go!

The big announcement is puss is now no longer a she and has now been correctly identified as a he cat. In case you are wondering how I made such a basic mistake - even the vet made the same mistake when I took her in the first time and even had her scheduled to be spaded! Fortunately the mistake was discovered before she was cut open!

So its no longer Lilly, but now Larry the cat!

Some money was saved by not having to do the spading (he had already been neutered) and in the end the surgery cost $776.30. The final bill is likely to be a wee bit more as he will need a couple of follow up visits to have his teeth checked and for a booster vaccine.

Larry had a woozy night as the effects of the operation wore off, but he has now made a good recovery and is back to his old self. If anything he is even happier as he is no longer in discomfort.
