Please help me help a special friend going through bowel cancer

So I have created this page in order to help two friends who are super close to me and mean the world. For their own personal privacy through this journey I am keeping their names anonymous, but this page is coming from a very heartfelt space and would mean the world for any donations you can help us with.

So a bit of back story…A couple of weeks ago life changed suddenly for them as he was diagnosed with colon cancer. What started off as a pain in the side of his stomach escalated fast with concern resulting in them rushing to the Emergency ward. At first, they thought it was appendicitis, so Doctors ran further tests and CT scans. They were then taken into the whanau room where they received the devastating news that they had found a tumor in his large intestine which was pressing up hard against his spleen. He remained in hospital over the next 6 days undergoing intense procedures leaving him feeling anxious, lost, worried, so many emotions it's hard to say but the uncertainty was the worst and still is.

They operated a few hours later and took his spleen, appendix, 40 odd lymph nodes and 3/4 of his large intestine. They sent all of that away for testing. He was in hospital for the next week for recovery and monitoring and then sent home. Results came back and they found evidence of metastasis in the lymph nodes which means this is cancer that can and has spread. They want him to do a course of chemo and they meet with oncology on the 16th. The surgeon couldn't give them any definite answer in terms of the chemo having any benefit, he said it's a roll of the dice, which as you can imagine is not what you want to hear for a loved one so close to you. They had no answers and gave them low stats for the odds of the chemo working and preventing the cancer from growing again. They want to start with a more holistic approach which is the vitamin C infusions and Mistletoe treatments, of course these are not funded and come at a large cost.

The whole thing is mind blowing.. he is young, healthy and eats well, the doctors and surgeon said this is unusual for someone his age.

It is heart breaking to see them go through this, they are the most special friends, always there for everyone and are the life of the party! They have two boys and of course a household with the usual expenses that come with owning a home.

My goal is to raise at least $10,000 for them as they look into alternative therapies to try before chemotherapy. A single Vitamin C injection/infusion costs about $300 and it is recommended that he would need to have between 9+ treatments, done on a case by case basis. Funds would also go towards other alternative cancer treatments such as Mistletoe infusions… as well as ongoing supplementation due to the removal of his spleen which plays such a vital role in supporting the immune system. Funds will also ensure they have enough money to pay their mortgage, to cover end of year costs as his 4 weeks of annual leave would have been used up by then (from the time he has had to take off work for recovery and treatments) groceries, utilities, gas for their car and daily living expenses that come with having a family.

Any amount no matter how small or large would be so greatly appreciated.
