Raising funds to help my amazing mum tick off her bucket list during her last few months here on earth.

Wellington

In February 2019 mum started feeling pain in her arms and chest. She went to the doctors over and over again throughout the year how ever she was always dismissed. She persisted and continued pressing for an answer why she was in so much pain. As we neared the end of 2019 she finally got a referral to the respiratory clinic. It then took until February 2020 for her to have a CT scan which showed some abnormal shadowing in her lower abdomen. Another scan was order focussing in on that area which showed she had renal cancer. By this stage it had metastasized throughout her body making it stage 4 and terminal.

On the 2nd March 2020, mum went to A and E in excruciating pain to which she was unable to get out of bed or even move without crying out in pain. They were trying to discharge her saying it was a clot under her armpit however we pushed for them to admit her so we could get her the help she so obviously needed. A new doctor came and was shocked this was the conclusion the previous Dr had come too considering her previous diagnosis of stage 4 cancer. He ordered an X-ray and sure enough her arm was broken as the cancer had eaten through the bone causing it to break. After a few weeks in Lower Hutt hospital she was flown to Auckland hospital to have a full reconstruction and then flown back to Lower Hutt returning back to her home nearly a month after her admission.

From there she was placed on chemo and infusions to strengthen the bones.

Yesterday, following a scan and other tests we found out the chemo was not working and the cancer was spreading and increasing in size. We were hoping for 2-3 years with her but unfortunately we’re advised it will be a matter of months and if there was anything she was planning on doing, to do it now as she will deteriorate fast.

As time is no longer on our side we are asking for help to fund her to tick off the remainder of her bucket list starting with seeing snow for the first time then hoping to travel around the north island to take in some of our beautiful scenery.

Any funds donated will go towards funding this and if there is any remainder it will go towards funeral costs.

Thank you all for your love and support.
