Please help the Hough-Kennedy family through this tremendously uncertain time as they navigate the potential of homelessness.
Timaru, Canterbury
On the 14th of Feb, the Hough-Kennedy family lounge wall broke suddenly away from the floor as the adjoining outdoor pavements collapsed into a huge hole, revealing significant and previously unknown foundation issues of their home.
The Hough-Kennedy family have insurance! However, the insurance company has declined to pay $45,000 for repair costs. The structural damage of the exterior has been caused by insufficient water drainage, not identified by a pre-sale building report completed 4 years ago. The home is not currently safe to live in.
The Hough- Kennedy family home is home to 4 beautiful kids, aged 16, 13, 2 and 5 months old. The newest member Kira has been diagnosed with 18q Deletion Syndrome, (A Chromosomal abnormality). Kira is 1 of only 3 known cases in New Zealand.
Beautiful Kira has already overcome many obstacles but will need several surgeries in future for her cleft palate and hernia. Due to Kiras ongoing support needs, mum Kylie a RN in ICU is now unlikely to return to work.
The cost of repair to their home is simply an amount out of reach for Dad Rimini, who is now the sole income.
I have had the pleasure of watching Kylie raise her beautiful kids, they are a family of huge hearts and generosity and have helped many in times of need, so please let it be time to help them. This family will be forever grateful to those able to help keep them in their beloved home.
Kylie and I previously worked together in ICU as Registered nurses. Kylie is a tremendously kind and thoughtful friend, who is also alot of fun to be around. She is also a exceptional mum, my girls and I are so lucky to have her in our lives.
The money raised will go to cost of repairs of home and anything else they need
