This is being done to help ease the strain of a young family with five children who love their family pet to bits.
Manawatu / Whanganui
It was Saturday the 2nd of May, nice afternoon so thought since we had moved to level 3 my son inlaw said it would be nice to give the dogs a run out the beach. He packed the 3 labs into the back of the car took three of the children and off they went. Dogs were having a lovely time having a run. Then all of a sudden one of the kids screamed. Our lab Halo had blood pouring from her mouth. A big white ute has flew by at a hell of a speed, hit our girl and hasnt stopped. It all happened so fast we didnt even get a number plate of the hit and run vehicle. Halo has been in the emergency vets since Saturday, where they gave her strong pain relief (morphine) for 12 hours to let her rest. Sunday she was monitored & given more pain relief to help ease how she was feeling. Monday morning they sedated her and took two X-rays where they found a hole in her lung from the impact of the vehicle, she has had two procedures done so far but is needing more to release more air & try normalize her breathing. Halo is still being monitored by the vets & her breathing hasnt worsened but is still breathing 66 beats per minute when it should be under 30. She is needing more treatment & the vet bill is mounting up very fast. The current vet bill is $780.53. This is taking a toll on the family. The children are upset over the prospect that Mum and Dad can not afford the bill with continued out goings and may have to consider halting treatment. If you can help by giving a little to help support Halos treatment it would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you from the bottom of our hearts.
I am the children's Nana and have seen how upset they are.
Funds will be used to help pay for Halos treatment as what spare cash they have is running low. Any surplus will go towards a nice new bed for her recuperation and to help a charity of choice.
