  • Team Pete needs your help again

To every one of you generous donors I want to say a huge THANK YOU!!! Pete has been with us for longer than any of the doctors predicted.

However, as difficult as it is for him to ask - he really needs your help again. The treatment and exorbitant costs are ongoing.

    I have started a new Givealittle page;

    https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/team-pete-needs-your-help

Please check it out and share far and wide. Every donation helps. Thanks so much!

  • A final update from Pete via Givealittle

      4 September 2020

    Hi all !!

As I type I am receiving my 4th and final ipi infusion. The give a little page has worked better than I could have imagined. I didn't want to do it, don't like bludgers, but wow. Between you all, you have paid every cent of this treatment. Thank you.

Not only have you given me an opportunity to either survive this , or at least to fight a little harder, a little longer. Almost as importantly to me your generosity means I have not taken $80,000 off my family for my own selfish reasons.

I have not had an easy few months but I assure you it has been a whole lot easier thanks to the kindness you have shown. I will do all I can to repay the kindness shown to us, in every way I can. I've always had faith in humanity, will always see the good in people. This has reinforced my belief of all the good in the beautiful people that surround us.

Hard not to be cliche or corny.... but I will be forever grateful to each and every one of you.

From me, alicia, buster, moe and frankie...

    Thank you xxx

Good things, happen to good people. Shit things also happen to good people, but lets not focus on that ;-). You are a good person Pete, you and Alicia shine a very bright light around you that people are drawn too. You deserve only the very best, enjoy your time with the family and keep fighting the biggest fight!

  • A huge thank you and final plea before this page closes in 5 days.

Next week I get the fourth and final treatment. Then we sit back and make the magic happen!!

I've got my 46th birthday in a few months.... I always like Christmas... might even have a crack at 50!!! Busters 21st, Frankie's ball, moe's all white debut.....? way too much to do!! I hope you all join me for a long, healthy, happy life. I will buy you all a drink because you helped make it possible!!! 😃😃😃

This give a little experience has been full on. I struggled with it... still do. But wow, what a beautiful thing, and an amazing opportunity.

You have gone above and beyond and now it is up to me to do all I can to stay alive!!

Thank you for all the love and support.

    Onwards and upwards baby!!!

While sounding cliche.....words cannot do justice to the gratitude we feel.

Yesterday I received the second of four ipilumabab treatments. Each treatment is $20,000 and comes around every 3 weeks. Total cost will be over $80,000 and is now possible due to the overwhelming generosity of each and every one of you.

I am conflicted/challenged/ embarrassed/humbled/blown away by the support we have received. Alicia and I are fiercely independent.... but could not do this on our own. We would like to thank each and every last one of you sincerely.... from the bottom of our hearts. The generosity you have shown is life changing.... whether the treatment works or otherwise.

I said it before.... but I like it -

Whatever happens tomorrow- today I am the luckiest man alive....

    Thank you for your support.

  • A message from Pete

      22 July 2020

The photo you see on this page is a very proud/happy memory for me. I had one of my slip ups and ended up in hospital for brain surgery. Two tumors were removed (successfully) on 30th January. I had promised Frankie I would be home to walk her to school on her first day.... not a clever promise, but an important one to me. Well I excused myself from hospital on Feb 2nd, went home, slept in my own bed, and walked Frankie to school !!!

Very happy to be alive. Very happy to have a similar level of brain damage as I've always had. And very happy to have reached another landmark moment in life.... then back to hospital to face the music... little wonder we are all smiling.

  • A message from Pete as he prepares for his first round of Ipilimumab today...

      10 July 2020

I am conflicted every moment by the kindness and generosity shown by each and every one of you. You give me the honour of your support. You give me the ultimate gift of time with my kids.

I promise to do my best to be alive to repay that gift in kindness, in koha and in aroha.

Whatever happens tomorrow - today I am the luckiest man alive.

    I thank you xxx
