Port Vila Newborn Packs

$530 donated
Given by 17 generous donors in 2 years

Our aim is to provide every baby born at PVCH with a baby pack. Please like and follow our page Port Vila Newborn Packs on Facebook.

International

Port Vila Newborn Packs is all about making baby packs up for the Mammas in Port Vila, Vanuatu. Vanuatu is a third world country. At Port Vila Central Hospital there are on average 8 to 10 babies born per day. Many mammas dont have the basics. It costs to have a baby at the hospital, plus you have to supply everything down to your own knife, fork and toilet paper. In the baby pack we include 2 nappies, a clothing article, a beanie, a pair of booties and soap.

The average wage in Vanuatu is equivalent to $2.64 NZD per hour. Any donation is greatly appreciated.

Use of funds

Any donations will be used to purchase products for the packs.

Covid free here  9 October 2021

We are very lucky to be free of Covid here in Vanuatu but having the borders closed we have no tourists which is a major part of the Islands income. Unfortunately with no tourists Port Vila Newborn Packs hasn’t had many donations so I haven’t been able to make as many baby packs as I intended. I’m still busy crocheting beanies and booties and making packs, just not as many as I would like. Thank you to everyone who has kindly donated products and money. It is greatly appreciated.
