Raising funds for Roczens double leg surgery
Silverdale, Auckland
Roczen (originally Jobe) was rescued by Ruakaka Dog rescue along with his siblings. He had a rough start to life but was nurtured by his foster mum until he was ready to find his future home with his human brother (2) and human sisters (6&9). He enjoys his cuddles and loves to be by our side all the time, even stealing all the room in their beds at night.
Unfortunately he suffers from serious Elbow Dysplasia in his 2 front legs that causes him a lot of pain. Running in our paddocks and playing with the kids can cause him to become lame.
He is on anti-inflammatories, joint supplements and a high quality diet.
The vets said he needs urgent surgery on both elbows to remove the detached bones and flush out all the pieces that are around the cartilage. This will relieve the pain he is in and give him a chance to live out his days chasing the kids around.
The initial surgery is $3000 and then $8000 to complete it.
Unfortunately we can not afford this but are doing everything we can to raise the money.
Any donations will be very much appreciated by all that have met this gorgeous and happy boy!

Roczens journey post surgery 24 August 2022
Hello to all Roczens generous supporters,
After Roczens surgery he suffered from nasty infection in both elbows and a separation of the joint which led to lots of joint fluid leaking out. He spent a lot of time with the lovely ladies at Vets North in Silverdale as they were determined to get him back on track to improvement. He has been on a tonne of antibiotics and painkillers and has had a cone on his head 24/7. Slowly his wounds have started to heal, he has built up strength in his legs and can wander around the house and backyard under supervision. He has been on a weight management diet which he has thoroughly enjoyed consisting of wet food and lots of roast meats used to wrap up his pills. Although it has taken a long time to recover and having a lot more time to go, he has amazed us with his resilience and happy nature. He enjoys his trips to the vets and the attention he gets from his new extended family. Until his wounds are fully healed he still remains in the cone and inside in his pen but his new normal has not seemed to upset him and he still has a big goofy smile on his face. The next step will be physiotherapy and working towards the ability to run around with the kids during summer.
Thank you to all that have followed his story and helped where they can. He is one loved dog 🥰
