Help us make sure Jodie and Andrew are able to provide Annabelle with the best chance of a full and speedy recovery !
Nelson / Tasman
We have had a extremely frightening experience with Annabelle's recent brain bleed and have been amazingly lucky with the progress she has made towards recovery so far.
There is however still a long way to go with the possibility of many months away from home and treatments to come for our little girl to fully recover.
I am raising funds to help Jodie and Andrew through this emotionally and financially tough period where they will potentially be away from work for extended periods and incurring additional travel, treatment and rehabilitation costs.
The excellent service at Starship Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald house was provided without charge. Jodie and Andrew would like to donate money to both of these fantastic institutions, any excess funds raised here will enable them to increase the size of that donation.
Jodie and Andrew have been blessed with and are enormously grateful for the support from friends and family they have had throughout this terrible time.
If you are able and would like to provide some financial support, a donation through this fundraising is a way to achieve that. If you donate here Jodie and Andrew would prefer people keep the amount donated set to 'Private' in the system (tick box: 'Hide the donation amount from public view'), so that no one feels pressure to donate a particular amount.
Please feel free to share this message with other friends and colleagues of Jodie, Andrew and the girls.
Much appreciate your support
Geoff Allan
I am Jodie's brother and Annabelle's uncle.
Funds will be used for costs associated with Annabelle's rehabilitation, including travel costs (flights etc), procedural treatments, rehabilitation therapy. Excess funds raised will be donated to Starship Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald house.

We would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has donated and been sending us encouraging messages of strength and love. You are all amazing people and we can't thank you enough.
Perhaps the best way to thank you is to share how well our little superstar has been doing. Her strength on the right side is nearly equal to the left, and she is beginning to use her right hand at times without being prompted by us.
Speech is coming along well too, better every day in fact, but she does still have a long way to still go. The speech therapists are really optimistic she will come completely right in time as she has been so quick to recover.
The medical team are generally astounded at the speed in which she has begun recovering, so she is quite the little piece of good news here at the Wilson Centre, especially as they prepared us to expect months here which is the normal length of stay required.
We will have a try with a 45 minute school session each day this week on top of more intense speech/OT sessions and they will decide if she needs longer here or to discharge her home depending how she goes.
We will need to fund private speech and OT sessions once we do get home to Nelson so this page will help for that.
We have also used money for flights for ourselves to and from Auckland as only one flight a week is funded for one parent. Once we know where and when her Radiotherapy treatment will be, we will use funds to book for us to all be together during that time. Fingers crossed she doesn't go backwards too much recovering from the radiotherapy but we hear it is mostly fatigue that is an issue.
I will remain full time mum and carer for Annabelle till she recovers from the treatment and can manage normal school days again, so thank you all for helping keep us a float during that time off work for me. The remainder we raise is heading for Starship and Ronald McDonald house.
Thank you all once again, you have helped make a terrible time a lot less stressful for us and we are feeling blessed with a strong wee fighter on our hands, who has taken this journey in her stride and remained a calm, happy, loving and peaceful girl with a big smile.
Much love from The Barnetts xxx
