I am currently studying Animal Management - Captive Wild Animals, and i am so extremely passionate about raising awareness and aid for animals in wild populations that are under threat. One that i have researched quite a bit is the Stay Wild Tiger Trust, located in Batu Katak, North Sumatra. In December this year (2018) i will be travelling to Sumatra to help with the trust and be available for any need of education in the community.

Stay Wild is a community based project to ensure the survival of the Sumatran tiger. Too often animals affected by deforestation and human conflict end up dead or in captivity for the rest of their lives. Forest edge communities play an important role in protection of the ecosystem.
Tigers are the apex predator in the jungles of Sumatra and in North Sumatra they occupy the Gunung Leuser ecosystem. By protecting the tiger we are protecting the whole ecosystem.
The project primarily consists of regular jungle patrols and education programmes and will ultimately be managed by the community members themselves
We aim to build a lasting engagement that will foster the stewardship of the flora and fauna in North Sumatra, specifically around the Gunung Leuser Ecosystem. The key to saving the tiger and its habitat is through empowerment and education of the local people
Stay Wild will provide resources and opportunities for the forest-edge communities to explore other avenues of income and maximise potential of current forms of income.
The project begins in the village of Batu Katak, North Sumatra.
