To commemorate Rick’s life, please help us carry on his life-long effort to send his students to Japan to grow and learn Judo.

Nationwide

New Zealand has lost one of our all-time greats. An amazing family man, an Olympian and one of the biggest personalities New Zealand, Japanese and World Judo has seen.

Sensei Rick dedicated his life to teaching young and old, respect, discipline and the art of Judo. To carry on his legacy, we have founded the “Rick Littlewood Scholarship” to continue to help his students travel to Japan to train, compete and represent New Zealand. Many of Rick's students who embraced this opportunity, later found it to be more than a Judo training trip, it was a life changing experience during which they gained skills to become the inspiring leaders they are today.

If you wish to commemorate Rick’s life and help us fund his selfless dream, please contribute by donating a small amount. A donation in lieu of flowers would support us in our mission to keep his dream alive.

Use of funds

The Funds will be used to help athletes travel to Japan to train, compete and represent New Zealand.

I was very lucky to have had the opportunity to train with Rick at his dojo for a brief two weeks last Christmas, and was touched by his larger-than-life character as well as his deep knowledge and skills. He would not hear of any payment for the use of his space, merely requesting beer in return (though he did stipulate that it must be beer fit for a refined palate ;-)). So I raise my glass to you, sensei!
