Road to becoming a brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion.

My name is Jonny-rex Smith date of birth 27,1,2007.

I am a student at my bjj whangarei of brazilian jiu-jitsu.

I am extremely privileged to train at my bjj with professor "James Cherrie".

At this point of time being June 30th 2019, I hold 4 national titles, 3 of which are from new zealand grappler and 1 is from the nz martial art expo. Gold medal win from the king of the north, gold medal regionals, and gold medal from the river city sub comp in whanganui, 2 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals from other various competitions. My fighting record is 36 fights, 30 wins, 6 losses. ( These losses are what drives me to go back to the gym, and train my butt off, come back bigger better faster stronger and extremely determined). Over the last 2.5 year i have trained 8 hours a week.

My upcoming goals are.

I am going to the 2019 melbourne pan pacifics, in oct 25,26,27 for a taste of my first international competition.

The main goal!

2020 July world champs california is my life goal and we are financially planning for myself and my professor (James Cherrie of my bjj 273 port road whangarei). Our costs are going to be $10,000. This covers air flights accommodation medical insurances and gym training costs and tournament costs for the week we will be in california.

Hi guys it's 23 March 2020. Grappling industries Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world tournament here comes Jonny-rex Smith, from Bush Jitsu whanagarei. so it's been a while from last update, I fought in Melbourne October, I came second in the biggest tournament for the Southern hemisphere. (To the world number 1). after that I was unbeaten at a submission only comp run my Daniel hooker and Israel Adysena gym (City Kickboxing). this year to date I won my first international gold medal (At the Oceania open). I've made a personal decision and now proudly train at Bush Jitsu locally in whanagarei with coach Brennan Matheson. We are currently engaged In a fight preparation plan for my dream, (A SHOT AT A WORLD TITLE). thank you to everyone that has contributed so far we have booked and paid for flights to Texas, necessary accomodation and travel insurance. A package that covers martial arts. The team at Bush Jitsu is supporting me in a training camp like family, I feel as if I got the dream team and all the planning is wonderful.
