Robyn Anderson needs surgery to save her sight which will improve her quality of life

Robyn is needing Posterior Subcapsular Cataracts removed from both eyes which are deteriorating her sight very quickly. This is not covered by ACC and the waiting list for funded surgery is around 12 months, so we are wanting to go privately before her sight gets worse.

In one eye there is a long optical nerve behind the cataracts which could be glaucoma which can lead to blindness. Robyn has been suffering from a terminal progressive illness (COPD) for many years, she is on 24/7 oxygen and is only able to walk a few metres. She has been taking ongoing prednisone (steroids) for many years which has caused her to get cataracts in her eyes, the steroids and her diabetes deteriorate the cataracts more than anything else.

Her sight is very important and we would hate for her to loose it as she has already lost her independence and a lot of other things she enjoyed doing. Robyn is finding it hard to read her pill packs, her phone and writing on the tv, also she is unable to read books and the newspaper which is one thing she really enjoyed doing.

Those of you who know Robyn will know she has a heart of gold and always helps others in need, she is a giver and doesn’t like asking for things but it’s got to the point where we are needing to ask for help to improve Robyn’s quality of life. Thank you so much for reading.
