Hi Rodney Supporters. A massive Thankyou from Rodney and his Hoomans for all your amazing support throughout Rodneys Taranaki Search and beyond. It has been almost 6 months since Rodney was found and returned to live in his furrever home with us here in Wanganui. He is doing fabulously and now even has his own Facebook Page called Rodney Cat (send a friend request to him to be added). Due to popular demand, a book about Rodney (through his eyes) is due for release mid September 2021. These are limited edition, signed by Rodney himself and available via pre order through his Facebook page or by emailing rodneycat2021@gmail.com Rodney continues his Ambassador Role for lost, stray, unwanted and dumped cats everywhere raising awareness of their struggles. It is our intention that there will never be a situation requiring a #letsgetrodneyhome3 tag. Much loves, Rodney Cat and his family XXX🐾💞💞💞

As Rodneys Givealittle Fundraiser comes to an end, Rodneys forever family would like to take this opportunity to thank each & every one of you for your generous financial support. Funds have been utilised for costs involved in Rodneys Taranaki Search, Vet costs following his capture and items for his Catio to ensure he is safe. It has certainly been a roller coaster year with 2 major searches however thanks to your support, Rodney is finally safe. It is our intention as Rodneys Kaitiaki (caregivers) that there will never be a need for a 3rd search. We will keep everyone updated on Rodneys own Facebook Page (Rodney Cat) so send a friend request to join the journey from here. We are also continuing with Rodney Mug sales as a Fundraiser for as long as the need is there. It was a huge effort but together #wegotrodneyhome2 Much loves, Rodney & Family XXX🐾💞💞💞

Rodney wishes to send everyone a massive Thankyou for your generous donations. These have assisted with search costs, vet care (past & ongoing), and other requirements. Rodney is absolutely thriving in his forever home. He has put on weight, his coat is soft and glossy and he smooches constantly. His days are spent out in his catio under the trees where he can see all the comings and going’s, listen to the birds and just enjoy the sounds and smells of farm life. His evenings are spent indoors with his humans and his favourite thing now is cuddling up for the night with them in the big bed. Being Rodneys Kai Tiaki (caregiver) is not only a privilege but also an absolute pleasure. We couldn’t have asked for a lovelier boy. Rodney has his own Facebook Page (Rodney Cat) for everyone to keep up to date with his progress. Thankyou all again 🐾💞💞💞

After 4 months missing, we are thrilled to let you all know Rodney has been found & is now safely in the care of Rodneys Rescues! We wish to thank each and every one if you who have donated towards Rodneys search. Every cent has gone towards his search (flyers, petrol, accommodation etc). Rodney is understandably frightened and needs time to decompress and we will keep you all updated on his Facebook page.

  • Fingers Crossed!

Following numerous sightings of a cat strongly matching Rodneys description, we have set up feeding stations & a trail cam at a location very close to where he went missing from. We will be going through the footage this weekend to see if we can positively identify the cat as Rodney or, as another stray tabby. If this is indeed our Rodney, trapping will commence to secure him. If not Rodney, feeding stations will continue until a space becomes available at a local rescue. We have had reports of another tabby being spotted in another nearby area & will move onto this location if our current one doesn’t yield Rodney. Thankyou all again for your support both emotional & financial. We couldn’t do this without your help. 🐾💞

  • Sightings!

We are getting more than just a little bit excited by recent sightings of a Tabby Cat strongly matching Rodneys description in the area he went missing from (Spotswood). These sightings are in various locations but all are in close proximity to where he was last seen. We have been made aware of a female Tabby Cat with similar markings to Rodney near one of these spots however are optimistic she is not responsible for all of the sightings (fingers crossed). Your donations have hugely assisted us in covering the costs of flyers which have alerted the Community to Rodneys situation. Without your help, we would not be at this stage. Thankyou all. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Things have gone a bit quieter this week however we expect more sightings to come soon. Our plan is to narrow down potential spots the sighted Tabby Cat may be using as a base, set up feed stations & eventually use a humane trap to secure it. While things are not moving as quickly as we would all like, a softly softly approach is best as if this cat is indeed Rodney, the last thing we want is for him to go to ground again. We are hopeful in having Rodney safe soon. Watch for any updates on Rodneys Rescues Facebook Page 🐾💞

  • Farewell 2020

As we see 2020 out this evening, Rodney is still very much in everyone’s thoughts. While we are sad we didn’t get our Christmas Miracle, we remain extremely positive that we will eventually find our boy & bring him home. Rodney is a tough wee fella who is proficient at mousing & taking care of himself. He will show himself & we are well prepared for when that time comes. A dedicated Team of Volunteers have been non stop distributing flyers (thanks to your generous donations) & reports coming back show everyone spoken with knows Rodneys story & are looking out for him. Thankyou all for your support and words of encouragement. #letsgetrodneyhome2🐾💞

  • Thankyou From Team Rodney

      12 December 2020

We are extremely grateful for each & every $ that you have donated. We are using all donated funds for flyers, petrol costs for search trips to Taranaki, vet care for both Rodney (when he is eventually located) & his “friends” we are finding along the way. We are committed to finding Rodney however long that may take. He is neutered & microchipped. He has spent most of his life living in a lumberyard so is capable of mousing for his dinner. Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts 🐾💞 #letsgetrodneyhome2
