Genocide is occurring and hundreds of thousands of Rohingya are fleeing Myanmar. Their cries for help can no longer be ignored.

International

The Rohingya are a stateless Muslim minority group in Myanmar. The estimated 1 million Rohingya living in Myanmar have been subjected to systematic persecution and grave human rights abuses by authorities for decades. Escalating violence in September 2017 has now forced 370,000 Rohingya to flee to Bangladesh since August 25.

This week, UN officials have described this as both 'catastrophic' and a 'textbook example of ethnic cleansing'.

Despite the election of a nominally-civilian government in November 2015, the new Myanmar Military has not shifted its policies of persecution of the Rohingya.

Over 100,000 live in internally displaced persons camps with no freedom of movement or access to food, water, sanitation, healthcare and education. A report released by the International State Crime Initiative at the Queen Mary University of London has concluded that the Rohingya "face the final stages of genocide".

Since 2012, Partners has been providing emergency relief to those in camps in Rakhine State as well as those fleeing violence to Bangladesh, including rice distribution, basic medical support, tarps for shelter as well as animals, seeds and fertiliser to help establish more sustainable food supply. PLEASE HELP provide life-saving relief to these vulnerable children and families and advocate for their freedom.

Partners is uniquely placed in this crisis as we have worked on the ground in Myanmar and Bangladesh with Rohingya communities for five years and have a team in Bangladesh responding now. Our team have been some of the very first providing food, shelter and medicine as we already have local relief networks in place.

Claire Gibbons' involvement (page creator)

Our family has been working on staff with Partners Relief & Development since 2009. Over the past 5 years we've worked with Rohingya communities in Myanmar and Bangladesh to help give the emergency food relief as well as building sustainable solutions so they can have dignity and be empowered to care for their children despite the horrific oppression they continue to suffer in their own country. To us, these are not some strangers in a far away land, these are our friends.

Use of funds

Funds will be given directly to Partners Relief & Development to be used to purchase emergency food, medicine, shelter and other essential supplies for Rohingya refugee families in Bangladesh or to displaced Rohingya in Myanmar.

Latest update

100 days  6 December 2017

It's just passed 100 days since the violence erupted that initiated this current wave of violence against Rohingya. The global community has mobilised to help but there are large groups in the population of 625,000 new arrivals into Bangladesh that simply do not have even the most basic of supplies. Your gifts are so appreciated and have been helping bring hope and help directly to our Rohingya friends.

Here's a new video that our team has put together - please share it with your networks too.

Thank you!
