Education - Everyone has the right to. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Human Right 26.

Nationwide

John Magutuli when elected president of Tanzania on 29th October 2015 said, every child was entitled to receive free education from preschool to year 7.

Many children were not going to school because they couldn't afford the fees

He declared

No public school was allowed to charge school fees

No public school could refuse to enrol a child

Parents would be punished if they did not send their children to school

The result

From 5 million children going to school the number enrolled rose to 11 million - schools had to resort to 2 sessions a day and because of shortage of teachers many had to teach for two sessions a day. Class sizes rose from 40 to over 50. Many communities did not have a public school and the government did sufficient funds to build them

This is the case with Usa River. A community of 23437 (2012) 23 km from Arusha Tanzania's 3rd largest city with- no school.

The Rotary Club of Usa River, Tanzania is looking for World Wide funding to build a school at the same time we want to honour Rotarian Faye Cran for all the work she has done in Tanzania of behalf of Rotary.
