A group of passionate Kiwis running/walking the Auckland Marathon to fundraise for the training of 1500 health workers in South Sudan

Auckland

Kia Ora,

My name is Jono, I'm a Kiwi doctor helping run a community health program in South Sudan with In Deed And Truth Ministries (IDAT).

South Sudan is the world's youngest country, and has some of the worst health statistics in the world. During our 8.5 years living in South Sudan, our hearts were broken as we witnessed massive suffering and death of South Sudanese children from preventable illnesses. To combat this, we helped start the IDAT Community Health and Evangelism Programme, which has so far trained almost 5000 community health promoters. These volunteers are providing health education to a whole generation of South Sudanese including topics such as hygiene, sanitation, nutrition, antenatal & postnatal care, identification of infectious diseases such as TB, prevention of malaria and much more.

Alongside the health training, we empower communities to achieve their development goals and have installed 13 water wells, helped establish 30 village schools, 51 community farms and dozens of new churches.

With your help we would like to expand this program in 2025 to train another 1500 community health promotors in 30 new villages, as well as drilling more water wells, setting up schools, establishing community farms, and planting churches.
